Heat Deflector Modification for Pit Boss Grills

The Pit Boss Heat Deflector Modification includes a stainless steel modification and two self-tapping screws. It is designed to fit the following Pit Boss models: Austin XL (except the new Onyx Austin XL, as this modification is not required), Pro 1100, Pro 1150 (all models), Laredo 1000, Rancher XL, Pro Series Charleston, and Navigator Sportsman 1100 (will not fit the 820 model).

This heat deflector modification is specifically tailored to provide a perfect fit for the Pit Boss Austin XL, Pro Series, Pit Boss 1150, PB1100, Rancher XL, Charleston/Combo, Navigator, PB1100 Sportsman, and Laredo1000 models. However, it is not suitable for the new Onyx Austin XL, PB820Sportsman, PB700T1, Competition Series 1600/1250 (PB1250CS/PB1600CS), Savannah, or Lockhart Platinum models, as these do not require this modification.

The Pit Boss heat deflector has been upgraded to a thickness of 16GA, making it more sturdy and durable than other offerings (typically 14GA). It is crafted from premium-quality stainless steel, ensuring long-lasting performance.

Once the heat diffuser plate mod is installed, the controller/temperature probe will read the actual barrel temperatures instead of the air directly from the fire pot. This results in less temperature swings and improved grate temperatures from left to right. Additionally, it helps reduce the amount of fly ash and pellet dust, providing a more consistent and efficient smoking experience.

The installation of this Pit Boss Austin XL heat shield is straightforward, as it features strong magnets that hold it in place while allowing for easy screw insertion. The curved nature of the smoker drip plate is accommodated by the heat diffuser plate, as it covers the gap between the side wall and the bottom of the drip plate, enabling better sealing of the drum. This helps prevent pellet ash from coming up to the food when the door is opened.
